Director of Nursing

Job Description

Director of Nursing for small boutique assisted living. Only 23 units. Future job sharing position. The beautiful new home was created to ensure quality care to our residents.

The overall purpose of the DON is to ensure the establishment and supervision of a social system which fosters the participation of nursing staff in planning, implementing, and evaluating practice to insure safe, efficient, and therapeutically nursing care in accordance with recognized standard of nursing practices and policies, State, Federal Regulations and OSHA standards.

Qualifications:

1. Ability to read and write in English.

2.. Graduation from an accredited college with a degree in nursing

3. NJ Licensed RN-BSN preferred

4. Current New Jersey license to practice as a registered nurse.

5. Gerontological and/or long-term care, Assisted Living or Home Care experience required for a minimum of three years.

6. Experience in supervision in charge responsibilities required.

7. Essential functions that included:

Fingering, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, and rapid walking.

8. The sensory and communicative activities essential to the performance of this position include:

Feeling, hearing, seeing, smelling and speaking.

9. Certified Medication Aide Trainer is preferred.

10. Infection Control Preventions Certification.

Leadership Responsibilities:

Provides 24 "on call" assistance

Understands the principles of Assisted Living, privacy, independence and dignity and choice.

Ability to develop all clinical policies and limited budget necessary to ensure the best care of residents.

Lead resident, family, or staff education groups.

Supervisory Responsibility

Oversees the full nursing department

1. All medical or clinical testing equipment

2. Computer/Matrixcare Software
