Unity Healthcare at the DC Jail is seeking an FM or IM BC/BE physician who enjoys diversity of practice and a clinical setting similar to a hospital step-down unit. This is a great opportunity for the physician seeking fulfilling part-time work or looking to diversify their practice to include a new location of care or a new patient population. The infirmary physician at the DC Jail rounds daily (M-F) on patients admitted to the jail infirmary, a medical unit for acutely or chronically ill patients that require additional nursing support and/or medical care for mostly acute or sub-acute issues (conditions requiring IV antibiotics, complicated wound care, post-surgical care, recent severe injury, etc.). The infirmary attending works alongside the infirmary provider (ALP, staffed 24/7) and the infirmary nursing team to provide team-based care to infirmary patients. Successful applicants will enjoy interesting diagnostic and treatment challenges, medical teamwork and diversity of patients and practice.
