Description:

Responsible for the maintenance and procurement of the company’s train control electronic systems, computer aided dispatch centers, data network infrastructure and wireless communications network.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervises the installation, inspection, test and maintenance of Defect Detectors, AEI (Automatic Equipment Identification) readers, Radio and Telecommunication services for the FECR Signal system

Provide system support for the Computer Aided Dispatch System to include The Radio Code Line and Mobile Radio Dispatch

Provide network support services for the data network currently operational on the property

Procure wireless services such as cellular and paging for the FECR system

Provides technical assistance and training for subordinate employees

Handle administrative duties as assigned by the Director Telecommunications

Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)

Participate in group discussions including unit meetings, job briefings, safety meetings or process reviews

Assisting other employees when and where instructed

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

At least 5 years of signal maintenance and signal communication work experience

Must have a valid driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate’s degree (AA) from a Technical College with an emphasis in Electronics

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field of study

5 or more years of signal maintenance and signal communication work experience

Supervisory experience to include: training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems

Commercial Driver’s License

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Verbal comprehension (Understand oral and written communications--both general and technical)

Communication skills (provide clear instructions/directions)

Reasoning skills (problem solving and troubleshooting skills)

Mathematical skills to include: probability and statistical inference, fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigo nometry, fractions, percentages and ratios

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Microsoft Office

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Heavy work, lifting up to 100 pounds

Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/balance/climb on an occasional basis
