JOB PURPOSE

Provide support to the Director of Operations Hong Kong for establishing an effective operating environment and achieve cost efficiency to support various LOBs including but not limited to Funding and Liquidity Management (“FLM”) and Corporate Banking (“CB”) and Global Markets (“GM”) in the APAC Region, primarily for Hong Kong and Singapore and back up for Australia.

In addition, support Toronto OTC Settlement Team for SSI issues and call back verification with Asia Clients during Asia time.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Be responsible for the quality of the services assigned by the Director of Operations Hong Kong.

Working closely with other team members in APAC Operations and other Asia and Toronto partners (incl. Finance, Front Office, Global Money Operations, Global Market Operations, Credit Processing Services etc.) to ensure all operational services and products are delivered to our internal and external customers in a timely and cost-effective manner.

To ensure that the quality, standards and requirements for the operational services provided (through onshore staff functions &/or outsourced staff functions) are met on a day-to-day basis.

To ensure that operational risk is monitored and minimized.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES / DUTIES:

Carry out day-to-day operation and settlement for interbank and corporate clients in compliance with the Operations procedure and bank policy, ensure all tasks are completed smoothly and accurately and notify the Director of any potential risks/issues.

Provide necessary support for settlement of negotiable and non-negotiable instruments under custodian control, if any.

Ensure the static data of customers are properly updated and maintained.

Monitor the daily balances of the suspense and cash accounts and ensure time sensitive payments are settled in a timely manner with proper liquidity arrangement (incl. intraday RTGS account status).

Co-ordinate with FO, CS Onboarding team and Static data team for customer data and account creation/update/closure.

Co-ordinate with RM and CPS Term for credit facilities setup and handle loans and fees processing relating to syndication / bilateral facilities (i.e., disbursement/rollover/repayment etc.) and ensure drawdowns are made within available credit limit.

To handle account opening documentation executed by customers and responsible for safekeeping.

Contact local and overseas clients for trade confirmations and settlement instructions, reconcile the trade settlements and investigate any irregularities.

Observes and escalate to the Director of Operations promptly for any changes likely to impact any aspects of Operations in HK/SG/AU to ensure consistent standards, processes and controls.

Regular review of the procedure manual and propose to the Director of Operations for any necessary changes and/or update for new processes.

Propose any change initiatives to the Director of Operations Hong Kong for process improvement / alignment cross HK/SG/AU Operations.

Participate in any ad hoc projects assigned by the Director of Operations, including UAT.

Back up AU Operations team under contingency arrangement.

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ATTIBUTES

Minimum of 8 years relevant operations and settlement experience at a major international bank.

Knowledge of trade life cycle, funds flow, position covering process and intraday liquidity management.

Knowledge of Swift payment and settlement (incl. MT1xx. MT2xx, MT3xx, MT5xx), HK Chats ISO20022, HK cheque clearing, FPS are essential.

Knowledge of bank products and documentation standard, including settlement related to FX, MM, Treasury Bills, Discount Window / Repo, Term Deposit, CDI, loans, IRS/CCS.

Sound PC skills, incl. Microsoft word and excel.

Good accounting knowledge, booking of entries for bank and customer accounts.

Good written and spoken English skills.

Ability to work under pressure with good time management to complete tasks before deadlines.

A self-starter who takes ownership of a given task from start to finish with an ability to be flexible in terms of hours when needed.

A good team player who is capable to adapt and adopt changes and comfortable working in a small team.
