Foreman-Sheet Metal

Initial Goals and Objectives:

The Sheet Metal Foreman is responsible for overseeing the efficient installation of sheet metal projects in adherence to specifications. This position plays a vital role in leading the sheet metal crew to achieve maximum productivity, operational efficiency, and the highest quality standards for project installations.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Ensure the precise execution of all sheet metal projects according to project packages. Uphold safe work practices and compliance with all relevant external standards, including but not limited to OSHA regulations, governmental guidelines, and manufacturer specifications. Achieve project goals efficiently.

Provide timely updates on project statuses, including work completion, time expended, encountered issues, change requests, requests for information, materials used and remaining, and resources required for project completion to the Superintendent.

Maintain a high level of customer service, ensuring clients' needs and expectations are met or exceeded throughout the project.

Ensure the job site is maintained in a safe and organized manner, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations.

Monitor and actively work towards meeting production and quality objectives, maintaining a strong focus on delivering top-notch sheet metal installations.

Oversee the proper use and maintenance of vehicles and equipment used in sheet metal installation.

Prepare and submit accurate material and equipment requests in a timely manner to ensure project continuity.

Identify and plan effective setup and implementation processes that promote efficiency, safety, and high-quality results, while also safeguarding customer assets (e.g., site setup, loading procedures, interior protection, landscape preservation).

Maintain detailed records of field conditions encountered during project implementation, including accurate measurements required for sheet metal fabrication and procurement.

Prepare incident reports for any accidents, issues, or unusual events occurring on the job site.

Actively engage in problem-solving and troubleshooting to address issues that may arise during the project.

Compile and submit daily reports summarizing project activities, progress, and any relevant information.

Perform any additional duties and tasks as appropriate and assigned.

Position Requirements:

Proven ability to lead a commercial sheet metal roofing crew.

Knowledge and experience with generally accepted industry roofing practices.

Detailed knowledge of roofing safety requirements as outlined in OSHA regulations.

Knowledge of first aid.

Knowledge of manufacturer system requirements.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, details, and specifications.

Good problem solving skills.

Ability to plan ahead to avoid potential problems.

Ability to carry and climb ladders, confidence on roof top, ability to take roof samples (cores), and to thoroughly document roof conditions, measurements, etc.

Leadership and Management:

Manage and direct others in a positive manner, building skills, confidence and effectiveness of crew members.

Communicate in a positive and clear manner.

Focus on consistency.

Take responsibility to provide training and mentoring necessary to elevate crew members to their highest potential.

Demand excellence, success, and honestly.
