Job Description

The Assistant Director must be able to perform administrative functions, maintain center operations and sometimes teach in the classroom. This role oversees the function, operation and leadership of the center. The position requires a passion for our work, a strategic vision, significant capacity for marketing and fundraising and the ability to support the day-to-day operations of a high quality Early Childhood program. The Assistant Director must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and a passion for nurturing children and their families.

• Learn all essential functions for each position in the school so you can support and inspire.

• Manage operation of the school in the Director’s absence.

• Assist the Director to ensure maximum enrollment and effective cost control.

• A strong commitment to building positive relationships with families and the community.

• Ensuring curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices are in place in the center

• Conducting tours for prospective parents and enrolling new families

• Monitoring and managing all classrooms, can multi-task and efficiently complete tasks

• Ensuring a safe environment for the children in our care,

• Training of new teachers, and model for teachers how to build positive family relationships,

• Understand State of North Carolina Child Care Regulations, Licensing and Sanitation Rules and Regulations

• Capable of developing and executing strategies to build enrollment and enhance school programs

• Have knowledge of the USDA Food Program, and conduct staff meetings efficiently.

Demonstrate professionalism and confidentiality at all times.

Provide clear and effective communication appropriate to the audience.

Demonstrate patience, compassion, and empathy.

Engage in professional development throughout the year.

Demonstrate detail-orientation with excellent organizational skills.

Experience creating and managing a budget.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree with a major or concentration in Early Childhood, Child or Human Development, Child and Family Services, Elementary/ Special Education with a birth to age eight (8) focus. OR

Associates degree in Early]Childhood and 2 years of experience working as an Assistant Director. (Will accept a 2 year degree with 12 or more hours in Early childhood education and 2 years of experience working as an Assistant Director).

Must qualify as an Assistant Director per the Child Care Licensing regulations for the state of North Carolina.
