Description:

Eikon Therapeutics is a new biopharmaceutical company employing revolutionary technology at the intersection of chemistry, engineering, computation, and biology to discover novel treatments for life-threatening diseases. Eikon's discovery platform is built on groundbreaking innovations from its founders (Nobel Prize, 2014), culminating in the creation of microscopes which enable real time, molecular-resolution measurements of protein movement in living cells, thereby unlocking otherwise intractable classes of proteins as drug targets.

Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Staff Systems Engineer to play a critical role in developing and productizing Eikon's platform. This platform is Eikon Therapeutics' revolutionary system that tracks thousands of protein movements simultaneously to measure biological behavior. AI is then applied to these tracked protein movements to give scientists insight into the biological processes. As a Staff Systems Engineer on the platform development team, you will play a central role in the commercial success of a super-resolution imaging system using your technical expertise and interpersonal skills. You will guide development of system and subsystem architecture and design by understanding the relationship between design and user needs. You will need to understand the big picture while navigating and resolving issues at the detail-level. In this role, you will drive key architectural, design, and interface decisions. You will also contribute to our understanding of our design through hands-on characterization and verification.

About You

The ideal candidate should bring extensive experience developing opto-electro-mechanical systems and have launched products; have experience in systems definition, systems integration, and systems verification; and have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze complex technical issues to determine effective solutions. Eikon Therapeutics has a strong team spanning science, engineering, and data science. Strong communication and collaboration skills are necessary for working with this diverse team and stakeholders. The person in this position will work on multi-disciplinary problems and will need to drive decisions and issue resolution. A passion for contributing to the convergence of biology and technology through exceptional engineering is a plus.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience or a PhD with 3 years of relevant experience in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.

Strong fundamentals in one of the Engineering or Applied Science disciplines.

Completed at least one product development cycle and experience sustaining a product.

In-depth experience creating systems requirement and decomposing systems requirement into lower-level requirements and seeing it through verification.

Experience creating risk analysis of systems with electrical, mechanical, optical, and software components and coming up with proper risk mitigations.

Experience working with a cross-functional team to plan and execute integration builds, including hands-on troubleshooting and resolving build issues.

In-depth experience creating and executing verification plans and protocols.
