Role Purpose

Reporting to the Network Principal Engineer. This person will form part of the South African Technology team and will be responsible for senior level support for the Iress network.

Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on...

Provide network support including, but not limited to support ticket handling of network-related problems and queries.

Prepare and execute change control logged network changes.

High-level network troubleshooting.

Responding to network monitoring events of the Iress network

Fault logging and escalations with various network providers.

Performing network device installations and connectivity patching in Iress Data centres within Johannesburg. Having reliable transport is mandatory.

Provide technical/connectivity guidance to clients relating to Iress applications.

Working within rotational shift structures across weekdays, weekends and public holidays.

To be successful in this role you will have…

5+ years’ experience supporting large-scale LAN/WAN environments and diagnosing IP-based network issues.

Tertiary qualifications or equivalent. CCNA/Juniper Equivalent certifications or higher.

Understanding of networking technologies – Ethernet, spanning tree, routing protocols (BGP and OSPF), TCP, UDP, FTP/SFTP firewall and WAN technologies.

Ability to work autonomously.

Ability to work proactively and collaboratively with various technical teams within Iress.

Take ownership of problems and coordinate to resolution (end-to-end).

Proven ability to diagnose and resolve network issues.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and written, including the ability to communicate with non-technical customers.

Ability to work under pressure.

Provide technical/connectivity guidance to clients relating to Iress applications.

Have a “can do” attitude and drive to develop solutions that move Iress forward.

Experience with AWS technologies will be advantageous.

Previous experience using Juniper switches (EX and QFX series), firewalls (Fortigate and Juniper SRX), network management tools, Load balancers (Radware AppDirector/Alteon platforms) and VPN Technologies will be advantageous.
