The System Engineer is responsible to provide operational support to system infrastructure, support to the clients and resolution of technical issues and conducting root cause analysis. He is also required to manage change request through changes requests processes including requirement gathering, impact analysis, design, testing to integrate the change to existing environment.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain servers in a Linux / Windows environment
Develop and implement backup and disaster recovery strategies
Test systems in accordance to specifications & service level
Perform server hardware maintenance and upgrades
Create test automation frameworks in collaboration with team members or other IT departments
Develop tools to help increase functionality and efficiency of available infrastructure
Maintain software repositories and apply software updates
Maintain documentation for procedures, configurations, and programs
Respond promptly to incident, investigate & provide temporary &/or permanent resolution of incidents escalated. Provide timely status updates to relevant parties
Conduct root cause analysis & implement pro-active measures
Monitor & measure the performance & availability of systems proactively; implement corrective actions identified to improve performance & availability
Requirements:
Degree in IT / Computer Science / Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 3 years of experience in a System Integration environment and/or managing infrastructure systems
Familiar with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Wintel, Vmware, Storage Infrastructure, Veritas - Enterprise Netbackup
Familiar Scripting skills in Python, Ruby, Perl, or a related language
Experience with open-source application suites, such as WordPress or Drupal
Experience with cloud computing
Certification in one or more of the following is a plus: Wintel, Redhat, Vmware, EMC storage, veritas Netbackup
Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to explain technology from a customer perspective
