Position Summary

The Product Engineer is responsible for ensuring accurate technical requirements are identified and accurately interpreted for quoting, development (tooling, machining fixtures, gauges), and inspection to the customer’s requirements. A key aspect of this role is the application of GD&T to real-world machining of castings and forgings. The Product Engineer supports CAD design of models and drawings. This position reports to the India Engineering Leader and supports EQI’s global teams and the India team.

Essential Functions

The Product Engineer is responsible for:

Interpreting and communicating all requirements for product conformance during the RFQ technical review and product development process (including kickoff review, development, qualification, and approval steps), including all dimensional, material, metallurgical, and finish requirements.

Assisting our Supply Chain team and supplier partners to interpret, understand, and apply GD&T, especially with respect to machining of castings and forgings. Mentors other team members as required.

Providing written technical reviews of customer designs – including review of material specifications, GD&T, manufacturability, cleaning, surface coating, and packaging. Interacts with global teams to understand and clarify these product requirements and verify compliance with our supplier partners during RFQ, development, and the APQP PPAP process.

Developing 3D CAD models and detailed 2D prints to specification for cast products.

Assisting our Supply Chain team and supplier partners at all stages of a product’s lifecycle to address any production issue, part quality, design concerns, or other actions inherent to the technical aspects of the product. Collects and analyzes relevant data and effectively communicates the issues and solutions to EQI teams and the supplier as required.

Generating PPAP templates and reviewing PPAP submissions as required.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.

Experience with production CNC machining set-ups and inspection of castings.

Proficient in print reading and interpretation for quoting, part design, and inspection.

Demonstrated knowledge of geometric design and tolerance (GD&T) and gage design and function.

Ability to model casting designs and make detail drawings using SolidWorks.

Able to support this function with minimal oversight, including independent supplier visits as required.

Hours of work may require alignment with office hours of the Eastern Time Zone.

Knowledge of and working experience in castings is an asset.

Proficient oral and written communication skills (English).

Ability to effectively organize and plan.
