Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Associate to join our team in the field of protein science for vaccine development. As a Research Associate, you will play a crucial role in supporting our research efforts to advance the development of novel vaccines and immune enhancing formulations.

The Role

Responsibilities:

Conduct laboratory experiments to support the expression, purification, and characterization of novel vaccine antigens

Perform mammalian cell culture and transient transfection of plasmid DNA into cells

Use column chromatography to purify proteins of interest from cell culture supernatants

Perform biophysical characterization of purified proteins using various instruments and techniques to assess structure, stability, and function

Collaborate with other members of the research team to design and execute experiments, collect and analyze data, and contribute to scientific presentations

Maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records, including experimental protocols, data analysis, and research findings

Manage and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and reagents

Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment

Qualifications:

B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biology, or related field with 1-2 years of experience

Theoretical knowledge of protein structure, function, and chemistry

Experience with mammalian cell culture, including solid aseptic technique

Experience with protein expression and purification

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with effective oral and written communication skills

Able to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with limited supervision

Familiarity with an electronic lab notebook (e.g. Benchling), GraphPad Prism, Empower, or Unicorn software is a plus

Experience with HPLC, UPLC, and FPLC systems is a plus

Experience with analytical SEC, DSF, and SDS-PAGE is a plus
