We are looking for an Operational Risk Manager, this is a dual-faceted role focused on helping our US Renewables business grow in a responsible way by focusing on how our renewable assets are interacting with the market and anticipating new and emerging risks to the enterprise. This role will report to the Director of Risk Management, work closely with various functional teams across the AES Clean Energy organization, and will play a significant role in the business’ buildout, operation, and future growth.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Operational Risk Manager the responsibilities include:

Build and manage the Product Control and Enterprise Risk Reporting for the AES Clean Energy renewable asset portfolio.

Product Control related duties and responsibilities:

Augment and advance existing ETRM processes related to trade capture and transaction confirmation/validation, trade change review and approval, price curve capture and maintenance, and price curve validation.

Augment and advance daily P&L reporting intent on identifying drivers and actions to further profitability and manage risk.

Support monthly accounting process around settlements.

Support our annual and ad hoc internal and external audits.

Enterprise Risk Management related duties:

In conjunction with the Director, Risk Management leads and advances AES Clean Energy’s Enterprise Risk Management.

Work with cross functional teams to update, quantify, and identify drivers in our enterprise risk register.

Prepare annual reporting of the monitoring of the Enterprise Risk watchlist

Leadership of an analyst(s) including goal setting, performance monitoring, coaching, prioritization, and all other people manager requirements

Work hand in hand with Commercial, Development, Accounting, Tax, Regulatory and the Corporate Risk Team to support managing risk in a high growth business.

Deliver reporting and analytics that provide insights into AES’ renewable asset portfolio.

Qualifications:

5-7+ years of relevant experience within Commercial or Risk Management within the US power markets

Experience leading a small team.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Math, Engineering, Sciences, or equivalent.

Experience with ETRM systems, in general, is crucial.

Experience with Allegro, in particular, is helpful.

Understanding of MTM, P&L reporting, exception control, visible, liquid, and deferred horizon concepts is essential.

Understanding VaR, stress reporting, and other risk measures is helpful.

Team player and eager to learn and teach in partnership with other team members.

Able to grasp and communicate complex concepts and transactions in layman terms to a non-technical audience.

Sefl motivated with the intellectual curiosity to read interpret and maintain knowledge.

Self-directed with the ability to work well under tight deadlines.
