CAREER OPPORTUNITY - DIRECTOR OF DISTRIBUTION AND LOSS PREVENTION

Our Client, Unicomer (Barbados) Ltd. is seeking a qualified and experienced professional to fill the position of Director of Distribution and Loss Prevention. This key role oversees the operations in the Distribution Centre and directs the Loss Prevention teams, ensuring that processes are streamlined, and operations are functioning efficiently with minimal loss. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Director sits as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and will lead the Warehousing, Project Management and Loss Prevention teams and outsourced contractors.

THE ROLE

The Director of Distribution and Loss Prevention will:

Establish and monitor internal controls for the movement of stock in and out of the Distribution Centre for effectiveness and compliance.

Investigate causes of exceptional shortages/losses or out of stock issues at the Distribution Centre and take corrective measures.

Update and implement policies and procedures to safeguard against stock losses.

Partner with IT and Purchasing to improve the accuracy of stock information.

Organize stock counts in line with the requirements of the Internal Audit.

Ensure compliance with proper storage and handling procedures in an effort to minimise damage.

Ensure the proper functioning of the material handling equipment including ensuring preventive maintenance is done.

Provide oversight of Loss Prevention measures for both stock and property assets.

Ensure compliance with Health & Safety standards across the Distribution Centre and other properties to maintain a safe environment for staff and customers.

Access and analyse delivery data to identify areas of inefficiency and non-compliance and take appropriate corrective measures.

Oversee budgeting for the departments and manage the distribution costs to ensure that these are in line with budget.

Negotiate terms with contractors and suppliers to optimize cost-effectiveness.

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will possess:

A Post Graduate degree in Business Administration, Management, Supply Chain or a related discipline.

A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a senior management position working in a medium to large retail/commercial operation with significant strength in warehousing distribution and facility operations. Experience in project management would be an asset.

Sound understanding of Logistics and Supply Chain Management practices and procedures.

Working knowledge of project planning, execution and budget management.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel or other spreadsheet applications, Warehouse Management Systems, Transportation Management Systems or other supply chain management systems.

High numeracy skills.

Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Strong leadership skills, demonstrating high emotional intelligence with the ability to inspire and motivate teams and contractors.
