Do you have talent for developing IT applications at data and scripting level aligned with standard processes? If yes, this is your opportunity to join a world-leading coating supplier as our new Visual Basic Developer.

You will have the unique opportunity to maintain and further develop the R&D organization’s data systems to ensure that they function optimally and in accordance with users’ needs. You will report directly to the R&D Manager, Systems & Processes, and cooperate with colleagues from different functions all over the world (among others, R&D, Digital, Operations).

Key responsibilities

Support the automation/digitalization journey of the R&D organization by developing, updating and maintaining the existing product lifecycle management (PLM) system.

Plan, coordinate and implement IT projects to ensure that they are delivered on time and within budget, adhered to defined quality standards and meeting agreed user specifications and expectations.

Ensure proper and efficient digital integration between the PLM software and existing and new digital solutions within Hempel.

Ensure that applications are implemented and operated according to agreed standards within Hempel.

Provide technical support and training to end users.

Ensure adherence to the IT security policies.

Key tasks

Work with user groups to identify and solve business challenges within the RD organization through digitalization/automation and mainly related to the existing PLM software at data and scripting level. Collaboration is not only with R&D user groups but also with other business functions (mainly Digital/IT, Supply Chain, Production, Product and Assortment Management, Technical Support).

Based on the above, improve existing and design new end-to-end solutions that improve collaboration, productivity/efficiency and knowledge sharing within the R&D organization but also with other business functions if applicable/relevant.

Ensure proper and efficient integration between the existing PLM software and other existing or new applications. This requires close collaboration with the Digital/IT function.

Prepare, coordinate, follow-up and ensure proper implementation of projects, within budget and following a realistic project plan in accordance with the priorities of the department and other involved parties’/functions’.

Understand client pain points and troubleshoot as challenges arise.

Handle users’ daily requests and incidents, ensuring proper prioritization among them and related to other projects.

Close collaboration with other team members to ensure open communication, knowledge sharing and proper workload distribution to achieve department objectives.

Provide training and support to users on new and existing digital tools/applications within R&D.

Key Success Criteria’s / KPIs

Completion of agreed IT projects. They must meet the specifications, be delivered on time and within budget.

Satisfactory resolution of users’ incidents and requests related to the PLM software and other applications used in R&D.

Satisfaction level of users.

Work relations

Internal with all different areas in the company, as well as external (software suppliers).

Required education, experience and job-related skills

Knowledge and experience in SQL database is a MUST.

Knowledge and experience in .NET, preferably in VB.NET is a MUST.

Fluent in English – oral and writing is a MUST.

University degree in information technology is preferable.
