Position Summary

This position is part of the Maintenance and Engineering team and plays a role in improving the overall reliability and performance of manufacturing and infrastructure equipment. This employee is critical to the performance and continued growth of Suja.

This position provides technical support, problem-solving, documentation maintenance, modifications, and continuous improvement for electrical panels and automated control systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Troubleshooting controls.

Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems and prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written.

Control and information systems for process and packaging operations.

Install/troubleshoot 240V and 480V motors VFD’s and Servo drives.

Design and construct control systems for single devices and/or specific functions of electrical machinery and equipment on the shop floor involving PLCs (programmable logic controllers).

Provide day-to-day support for shop floor PLCs and related hardware, software, and applications.

Implement standard engineering practices and provide detailed documentation upon project completion.

Detect and resolve mechanical, electrical, and programming issues and effectively communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical personnel.

Work with and learn existing PLC platforms, the majority of which is Allen-Bradley (AB) but may also include Siemens, Schneider Electric/Modicon, Mitsubishi, Yaskawa, B&R, and others.

PLC (AB-Studio 5000) / HMI programming packages (AB, Wonderware).

Work with network protocols such as Ethernet I/P, DeviceNet, Modbus, ModbusTCP, RS-232, RS-485, SERCOS, ASi, and others.

Adhere to SOP, SSOP, GMP, and HACCP guidelines when in the plant.

Regular and reliable attendance.

Job Qualifications

Education: BS degree or more is required, or at least seven years of documented field experience.

Experience: Experience with Computer Added Design (CAD) Software and Solidworks.

Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers and Distributed Control Systems. Be able to use and integrate various components associated with automated control systems in food and beverage plants.

Language Skills: Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to work in a diverse workforce environment. Should have required essential hand tools.

Other Skills: PLC programming, electrical and PLC troubleshooting, Good critical thinking and organization skills, and food and beverage Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s). Possess skills in troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of all plant equipment and intermediate to advanced computer skills (e-mail, MS Word, Excel).

Other Abilities: Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, robot motion control servo motion control systems, network communications, database implementation and maintenance, hardware configurations and power requirements, standard wiring and labeling practices, interpret and modify electrical schematics, be able to work independently with moderate supervision. Have the ability to analyze performance logs (logs, online tools), be adept at controls programming (Rockwell, Siemens, Labview, GE Proficy), have familiarity with time-based and relational database systems and can program AB for custom manufacturing equipment. Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

Working and Environmental Conditions

Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours to meet deadlines. The environment may be wet or dry with temperatures <40F.

Compensation

$38 - $45/HR DOE
