Whitman Consulting Organization, Inc. (WHITCO) is a Construction Management and Inspection Company providing professional services to the Oil, Gas and Utility industries. Our Company is growing fast and we are currently seeking experienced and professional Pipeline Construction Inspectors to join our team!

Position Summary

Provide inspection, oversight, and reporting on the construction of natural gas distribution pipelines and facilities. Verify work is complete in accordance with company standards, specifications, applicable codes, federal regulations, and state requirements. QA/QC over construction processes, progress reporting, as-built documentation. Duties include field inspection of installation methods, inspection of materials, project documentation review, enforcement and compliance with company standards and safety oversight and inspection, daily reporting, and project documentation.

Experience:

3+ years of Inspection experience with distribution gas pipelines and facilities

Skills & Qualifications:

Familiar with construction related to steel pipe and poly pipe installation, repairs, and maintenance. Emphasis on distribution natural gas systems

Observation and reporting for compliance with: ROW preparations, materials, material handling, welding, fusing, Operator Qualifications, trenching & boring, pressure testing, coating applications, backfill and compaction, housekeeping, restoration, project documentation.

Must be Safety oriented - Safety is #1 Priority

Familiar with DOT CFR 49 .192

High school diploma, 3+ years experience in gas distribution, polyethylene pipe fusion, meter sets, regulator stations, farm taps, knowledge of underground locating, and HDD process.

Familiar with all forms of plastic fusion, including butt fusion, mechanical, and electrofusion, all pertaining to various fittings, from pipe, tees, etc.

Experienced in various distribution pressures (including all pressure levels pertaining to low-pressure systems, medium/intermediate pressure systems

Should have a fundamental understanding of distribution standards, codes and construction methods, and safety requirements

Attention to detail

Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Ability to read, document clearly, and interpret the client standards and procedures to others

Ability to read and interpret plan view drawings

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

A clear understanding of 811 excavation/state requirements

Requirements for employment:

Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation to travel to multiple project locations

Background check

Pre-employment drug testing and quarterly drug testing

Ability to successfully complete Operator Qualifications

Ability to successfully complete pipe fusion qualification

Fit for duty physical examination demonstrating ability to complete work duties may be required

Mental/Physical Description and Working Conditions:

Mental descriptions: Understand, remember, apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, and communicate routine factual information.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee continuously moves around a job site with potential hazards such as equipment, machinery, excavations, hot work, open trenches, energized systems, etc. Employee frequently accesses active construction sites, ascends/descends stairs & ladders, maintains coordination, and engages in repetitive motions (kneeling, reaching, standing for long periods of time). Employee routinely performs this work for an average of 10 hours per day and occasional extended if approved through Client. Regular, reliable, and timely attendance is expected.

Specific lifting abilities required by this job include: Light work. The employee is continuously moving about the job site and or office space. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Work environment: Routinely perform work outdoors in all types of weather. Travel to and from job sites and client facilities/offices will be necessary to conduct the duties of this job and the employee must have proper licensing to operate a motor vehicle.

Work Schedule: 5 days/week, 10 hours/day

Based on previous experience, qualifications, and training

Mileage reimbursement

Experience:

Polyethene Pipe/Procedure Qualified (Preferred)

Distribution Inspection: 3+ years (required)

Distribution construction related field experience 3+ years (required)

Certifications:

OSHA 10hr or 30 hr (preferred)

API 1169 (preferred)

Must be able to complete client specific Operator Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma (required)

Must be capable of computer work related to reporting, emails, communication, and correspondence

Proficient in Microsoft Office

Work Location:

Based in Oklahoma with travel required for performance of job duties
