Coordinator, Workforce and Contractor Development

The Coordinator, Workforce and Contractor Development creates a meaningful impact by supporting projects in the team’s portfolio to increase workforce and business trainees’ participation in the clean energy economy. The position plays a pivotal role in the implementation of the Workforce Trainings and Contractor Accelerators. The Coordinator works with project managers to run Workforce and Contractor Accelerator programs to directly support the advancement of people and organizations who have been historically and currently marginalized in the energy sector and building trades.

The Coordinator reports directly to Associate Director, Workforce and Contractor Development and is part of the Workforce and Contractor Development Team. This position is located in Chicago, Illinois and is currently hybrid remote.

Responsibilities

Communicate Elevate and Workforce and Contractor Development team’s Vision, Mission, and Values to stakeholders during informal and formal gatherings.

Attends in-person and virtual events in their community relating to Elevate’s Workforce and Contractor Development work.

Recruits participants for enrollment in programming.

Review program applicant information and connect participants to relevant Elevate programs and/or refer to resources available in the community.

Tracks and follows up with participants for ongoing support and continuous engagement.

Maintains relationships with participants, community partners, employers, and other key contacts.

Implements assigned program activities both virtually and on-site with participants (e.g. coordinating training space, confirming speakers, coordinating participant stipends and supports, etc.) with guidance from the Project Manager and/or team leadership.

Supports case management and other direct in-person services to participants.

Maintains organized data and records.

Provides program data and information to leadership for reports and other documents.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and skills

Minimum two (2+) years of community building, outreach, or similar experience OR if a candidate does not have two (2+) years of experience, completion of related certificate, associate, or bachelor’s program will be considered, such as social work, business coaching, construction, and work in the energy efficiency industry

Demonstrated commitment to the advancement of communities who have been historically and currently marginalized

Authentic relationship development and community-building skills

Proficient in verbal and written communication

Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions

Use standard tools and technologies to track participant and program data

Knowledge of workforce training systems such as WIOA is a plus but not required

Knowledge of clean energy technologies or building science a plus, but not required

Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Driver’s license and/or access to reliable transportation to attend in-person meetings

Ability to travel locally up to 30% of the time
