Nerd Holdings Corporation is a diversified technology holding company within the managed services, telecommunications, payment processing, and digital media spaces. We are headquartered in the metro Detroit area with remote capabilities in North Carolina, California, Arizona, and Florida. We anticipate opening offices in Florida and Arizona over the next 12 to 24 months. The hiring entity for this position is TBD, however this role would provide services for all our companies.

Work Location

This role will be primarily based in our Novi, Michigan headquarters, however part-time remote work may be acceptable if you can physically be in our local office 75% of the time. Some travel may be needed. Mileage reimbursement and per diem will be provided as appropriate per company policies. Reliable transportation is required. We will be relocating offices sometime in either Spring or Summer 2024 and our new offices will be within five to ten miles of our Novi Office.

Base Responsibilities

This position provides remote and in person interactions with internal and external customers. Remote interactions are through phone, Microsoft Teams, Webex, and other remote management tools. With external customers, interactions will be professional based.

Work with customers to create and design a vision for their website needs. This includes a deep discovery of the customers business, their plans, a needs evaluation while uncovering the ultimate goals of the customers web project.

Designer will need to work with customers to come up with appropriate copy for customers website. All copy must be signed off by customer.

Ensure all copy being created does not violate trademark/copyright infringements and that all data being included on the website has appropriate use authorization.

Build websites applications using WordPress, Joomla, adobe, site jet, or other appropriate tools which will be heavily modified from base settings.

Update sites and applications based on customers' needs.

Provide customer service for external customers for items related to their websites and marketing needs.

Designer will be primary point of contact for external customers once a project has been completed.

Answer inbound phone calls and email inquiries for services we can provide and work with business development executives to close web design projects. Shift Information

We are hiring for first hour shifts. We operate normal business hours; however, afterhours and weekend work may be needed. Thie role can be part or full time.

Requirements

This position requires 2 to 5 years of experience within the following areas below. Candidates without less than 1 year of experience should apply for our intern/apprentice positions. If you have more experience or advanced certifications, please consider applying for our tier two or tier three positions. In lieu of 2 to 5 years' experience an Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree, and/or Military Experience may be used to substitute for experience.

A successful candidate must have the following:

1 to 3 years of experience building, designing, and updating websites using WordPress, JavaScript, HTML, Joomla, Adobe, and/or Microsoft .net.

Excellent communication skills and proper grammar.

Candidates must be able to communicate clearly and precisely with customers in person or over Teams/Webex to get accurate information to build a great website/application for end users.

Must be able to do basic graphic design and editing. Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator is a plus.

Ability to do basic research on if customer has the Intellectual Property rights to use graphics and names on their website.

Basic level SEO capabilities along with search engine advertising experience.

Must be able to integrate third party applications/functions into website via plug-in, JavaScript, HTML, or other coding. A bonus if:

Are an expert graphic designer for logos and other marketing materials.

Experience with server systems running websites and web based applications.

Managed IT support as many customers from our telecommunications and managed IT businesses.

Bilingual. This is an English speaking role, however those who can speak another language such as Spanish, Arabic, French, or Korean will receive higher priority in fulfilling this position.

Compensation:

Compensation is based on experience.
