Medical Billing Specialist

A busy Orthopedic clinic is looking for a Billing Specialist who is motivated and excited to join a high paced team. We are looking for a self-starter who likes to stay busy.

Responsibilities Include:

Patient payment responsibilities.

Payment posting, including both patient and insurance payments. Reviews insurance remittance advices for accuracy. Identifies billing errors, short payments, over payments, unpaid claims, and resolves accordingly communicating any needed system changes.

Insurance follow ups and claims.

Initiating in person contact with patients as necessary medical billing and collection. Research assigned correspondence; takes necessary action to resolve requested information in a timely manner; establishes appropriate follow up.

Resubmits accurate and timely claims in formats including but not limited to CMS-1500, and electronic 837.

Charge entry with knowledge of ICD10 and CPT coding.

Answering patient calls and general billing inquires

Posting adjustments to accounts in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.

Clearly documenting in patient’s account any actions taken or any follow up completed or needed.

Requirements:

Education:

High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

ICD-10: 1 year (Preferred)

Medical Billing: 2 years (Preferred)

Experience in a medical specific role and knowledge in all the responsibilities listed above is required.

Knowledge of medical and billing terminology required and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Centricity experience strongly preferred.

Must have effective written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.

Must work efficiently with limited supervision.

Must be willing to work as part of a team.
