Position Summary:

As a Certified Surgical Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring quality patient care during the operative procedure while constantly being on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. You will be tasked with preparing and sterilizing the operating rooms, as well as the necessary equipment and instruments, prior to any surgical procedure. You will also be charged with preparing the patients for surgery and helping provide great patient experiences overall.

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

Assist physician providers in the sterile surgical operating room using training techniques of the CST and under the direction of the physician

Collect, verify and ready needed supplies, equipment, instruments, medications, and solutions for each surgical procedure

Assist with draping and establishing the sterile field

Secure tubing, cords, and other sterile accessories

Prepare and anticipate additional instrumentation, equipment and supplies for usage during the procedure

Measure and pass medications, hemostatic agents and irrigation solutions used during the procedure

Hold retractors or instruments as delegated by the surgeon

Sponge or suction the operative site as delegated by the surgeon

Load, cut, and manage sutures

Maintain the highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure

Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization

Close out the room, re-stock and fill the rooms with enough surgical packs for the following days procedures

Perform quality control inspection of instruments ensuring there are no damages to the integrity

Special projects and other duties may be assigned as needed

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Current BLS certification or obtain within 6 months of employment

Certified Surgical Technician (CST) Certification from an accredited school

One or more years of related work experience in operating room preferred

Membership in surgical specialty society encouraged

Strong communication skills and ability to work well is a high-stress environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Bilingual in English and Spanish or ability to speak other languages is desirable

Work Schedule: Rotating Schedule – including days, evenings, and weekends

Salary Range: $32.00- $35.00/hour to commensurate with experience
