ASN Constructors is a joint venture of three international contractors (Acciona, Shikun & Binui and North American Construction Group) who will work with the Metro Flood Diversion Authority and other area stakeholders to build a historic project that will protect the citizens of the Fargo-Moorhead area from flood waters from the Red River. The Transportation Superintendent actively participates in and coordinates work related to roadway construction and design build projects, supervises the field crew and subcontractors and is responsible for the completion of all projects in a safe and timely manner while utilizing the highest quality of workmanship.

Responsibilities

Pre-plans work activities with Project Manager to develop best means and methods, including safety action plans.

Reviews all contracts, project documentation and plans to ensure that the work in the field is built to the most recent specifications.

Plans the day-to-day operations on assigned project and ensures that proper resources are in place for the timely completion of work, including labor, tools, equipment, and material.

Takes responsibility for crew performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and following company policies and procedures.

Initiates follow up action as necessary including training, orientation, discipline, etc.

Conducts daily briefing with crew to review production goals, performance feedback, safety and schedule, hazards, and to solicit feedback from the workers.

Maintains a dedication to safety at all times by modeling, providing education and enforcing safe work practices and company policies and procedures.

Make sure the proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel.

Communicates with customer and ensures a high level of customer satisfaction.

Communicates with contractors or sub-contractors to coordinate work, goals, etc.

Requirements:

Experience/Qualifications:

10+ years of experience as a project superintendent. Roadway construction experience is preferred.

Knowledge of all aspects of roadway construction and maintenance including embankment, aggregate, bituminous & concrete pavement, erosion and sediment control applications, and work zone traffic control standards.

Experience with NDDOT standards and specifications is preferred

Previous supervision of projects

Ability to train and motivate workers

Ability to read and understand project specific documents including schedules, standard railway plans and specifications.

Ability to oversee the work of others and clearly communicate instructions to crew.

Strong client relation skills.

Strong verbal and written interpersonal skills.

Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.

Ability to understand and expertly carry out instructions.

Ability to keep records and to prepare production reports, timesheets, equipment logs, inspection reports, change orders and updating project files.

Ability to perform other administrative and/or project-based duties as assigned.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Physical Demands and Work Environment – ALL CRAFT AND FIELD POSITIONS WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.

Exposure to moving mechanical parts.

Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.

Noise levels in the work environment is usually loud.

Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).

Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.

Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.

Physical Demands and Work Environment – ALL OFFICE POSITIONS WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position is primarily indoors.

This work environment may involve minimal exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
