Description:

The Director of Diverse Learning creates the vision for the Diverse Learner Program at Namaste and manages and develops Namaste’s Diverse Learner teachers, paraprofessionals, and Related Service Providers. Their responsibilities include both staff coaching and development, as well as compliance and case management. This person operates with compassion, curiosity, and urgency to create equitable and effective educational opportunities for all.

Teaching & Learning

Oversee, manage, and meet weekly with Diverse Learner teachers and paraprofessionals, including those needing supervision within the RELAY certification program.

Oversee, manage, and meet weekly with Related Service Providers.

Collaborate and meet weekly with the Instructional and Shared Leadership Teams.

Communicate regularly with the families of Diverse Learners.

Create, revise and communicate teacher and student facing instructional and testing schedules that ensure students’ needs are met.

Complete staff evaluations using the Danielson Framework.

Provide coaching, professional development and support related to Diverse Learner curricula, academic and behavioral strategies, modifications & accommodations, IEP writing, progress monitoring and SSM.

Lead the MTSS Team using academic and behavioral data to track student progress.

Act as a member of the Crisis Management Team to respond to high need situations.

Compliance & Case Management

Schedule, complete documentation for, and lead all evaluations, eligibilities, IEPs, 504s in accordance with ODLSS Procedural Safeguards.

Schedule and lead IEP Vision & Hearing Screening for students with IEPs/504s.

Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments following CPS guidance.

Participate in CPS ODLSS Case Manager meetings.

Communicate with CPS Transportation. Requirements:

Proven success teaching Diverse Learners

Minimum of 4+ years of demonstrated leadership, supervisory experience (preferred)

Illinois PEL with Learning Behavior Specialist I endorsement (required)

Master’s Degree in Special Education or related Field (preferred)

CPI or Safety Care certification (preferred)

IL Director of Special Education endorsement (preferred)

Spanish fluency and literacy (preferred)
