Job Description

Reporting to the President of the company, the Engineering Manager will be part of a group of skilled engineers and technicians supporting all aspects of the Company’s contract manufacturing business. They acts as liaison between internal departments, as well as, to customers and suppliers, from initial inquiries, through manufacturability guidance, test methodology development, production automation, to field issue resolution.

The ideal candidate will have a solid Electrical Engineering background with broad experience in general electronics and PCB manufacturing.

Shift: 8:00am - 4:30pm

Duties and Responsibilities

Act as the principal resource for internal technical inquiries from all areas of the company, including the Sales, Customer Service, Production, Purchasing, Quality, and Executive Teams.

Act as the principal technical interface for customer inquiries, performing/leading whatever internal or on-site investigations are necessary to diagnose issues and ensure customer satisfaction.

Perform direct failure mode analyses and root cause investigations and document the findings in clear and concise reports.

Provide guidance to customer Engineering teams as necessary to make their designs more manufacturable and testable.

Clearly present the results of technical investigations to customer Engineering, Quality, and Management teams.

Provide leadership, mentoring, and hands-on coaching to our internal staff of engineers and technicians.

Coordinate and direct development projects, from initial needs identification and ROI estimation, through development of project plans and timelines, progress tracking and schedule adherence, verification & validation testing, to production incorporation and performance tracking.

Oversee design for manufacturability reviews with internal or external customers.

Participate in company continuous improvement efforts.

Ensure that all test equipment and custom automation systems are fully functional and meet production needs.

Work closely with Production leadership to coordinate Production support activities to ensure on-time job delivery.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

8-10 yrs. experience in analog/digital design including embedded systems and firmware development using appropriate development environment.

Demonstrated experience in building and leading technical teams, preferably in a production environment.

Experience in direct customer interfacing.

Experience in taking complex technical issues and explaining them in a way that less-technical team members can understand.

Additional Desired Experience

Experience in the development of custom automation systems for production environments.

Experience leading Failure Mode Effects Analyses, DFM/DFT reviews, Root Cause Analyses, and Robotic Safety Analyses.

Experience in working with certification agencies such as UL and CSA in the introduction of new products or maintenance of existing ones.

Experience in PCB layout and fabrication.
