Position Summary

Caribou Thunder is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Human Resource Generalist to join our fast-paced office in a small, close-knit human resources environment. As part of a team of 5, the HR Generalist will share responsibilities with another group within the office. The role involves both transactional and strategic duties, requiring strong critical thinking skills. The candidate must demonstrate flexibility in working hours and occasional travel to other Washington Metro Area buildings may be required.

Complete Description

The Human Resource Generalist will play a crucial role in providing HR support to department management. Responsibilities include recruitment, staffing, selection, performance management, employee development, position management, benefits, allowances, separation, adverse action, and grievance procedures.

Supporting branch careerists serving in other branches or government agencies, tracking and monitoring branch vacancies, assisting employees with program office assignments, and serving as the primary point of contact for personnel change-of-location processing.

Utilize internal employee, contracting, and recruiting management programs, various HR systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsible for writing documents, correspondence, procedures, and reports in accordance with policies.

Strong presentation skills are necessary to convey complex information through various formats, charts, graphs, and spreadsheets.

Provide comprehensive HR support to department management and employees.

Assist with recruitment, staffing, and selection processes.

Manage performance management and evaluation procedures.

Facilitate employee development programs.

Oversee position management and benefits administration.

Handle separation, adverse action, and grievance procedures.

Support branch careerists in other branches or government agencies.

Input and track branch vacancies and applications.

Assist employees with program office assignments.

Act as the primary point of contact for personnel change-of-location processing.

Gather and analyze data on HR topics and provide recommendations to management.

Ensure data accuracy and quality control for personnel actions and database entries.

Research and interpret internal and travel regulations.

Influence and communicate the need for HR initiatives and their impact on organizational goals.

Minimum Requirements

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Flexibility in working hours and occasional travel.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Requirements

HR certifications (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP).
