Position Overview:

The purpose of this position is to assist nursing staff members in providing quality care to our residents. This position reports to the charge nurse.

Available Shifts: All Shifts! (6am-2pm & 2pm-10pm &10pm-6am)

Qualifications:

CNA:

State of Iowa or any reciprocating state certification, in good standing with no record of abuse.

Pass background check, physical examination,and be able to attend orientation.

CMA:

Must be certified within the State of Iowa or any reciprocating state, in good standing with no record of abuse.

Must be able to receive and act upon direction.

Must be able to maintain professional relationships with staff, tenants and visitors.

Must be able to read and speak the English language in an understandable manner

Position Details:

CNA's & CMA's:

Take Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respiration and Temperatures as directed..

Report any changes of condition in residents immediately to supervisor on duty.

Transport residents that are in wheelchairs to meals, activities, etc.

Help with meal times (including delivering meals and assisting those who need assistance)

Assist residents with activities of daily living while utilizing nursing principles to promote resident's the resident's independence.

Participate in the Resident care planning process as assigned.

Conduct Resident rounds as assigned.

Reliable and punctual attendance is required.

Partners with environmental team to assure clean and safe workplace.

Participates in all safety and infection control programs.

Visit with residents and assist them outside for fresh air when appropriate.

Other duties as assigned or needed that do not include direct resident care that may include participating in PIP teams, QAPI program, safety committee or other various committees.

Must ensure your annual training is completed in a timely manner to remain in Compliance with state regulations.

CMA's:

Administer Medications.

Set up medications unless the properly identified medication has been received from the pharmacy in a ready-to-use form.

Before administering medications, knows or looks up the medication’s intended use, purpose, acceptable methods of administration, unfavorable reactions, storage, warnings, and directions.

Reads each medication administration record (MAR) carefully, and when unclear checks with supervisory Nurse to clarify.

Reads medication container labels when the container is taken from the Residents supply, when the medication is removed from the container, and when the container is returned to the resident's supply, ensure that the label matches the medication ordered on the MAR.

Verifies that the Resident receiving the medication matches the name on the MAR.

Administers medication according to orders following administration rules and CDC guidelines.

Observes Residents for therapeutic or side effects from medications, which may include obtaining, reporting, and recording accurate vital signs, pulse, and blood pressure.

Charts/records medications taken and/or refused in MAR

Reports all errors immediately.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.

Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 50 lb. to a minimum of 3 ft.

Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents in an emergency situation.

Must be able to kneel, stoop or bend to assist residents.

Must be able to grasp and reach.
