WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Reporting directly to the Senior Accountant and indirectly to the Controller, this role will be pivotal in building effective accounting best practices. This is a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with tight deadlines. This role will support both Canadian and US operations.
The responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
Process period end, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, inventory reconciliations, rebates & commissions, and various balance sheet schedules
Assist in financial statement preparation and analysis
Assist in various analysis - actual to budget, YOY, YTD, etc
Reconcile general ledger accounts, sub ledgers, and prepare reconciliation entries
Participate in identifying and preventing discrepancies, and ensuring integrity of the GL
Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly & annual statutory reporting for various States and Province
Participate in cash flow planning involving local and foreign currencies (CAD, USD, EUR, RMB)
Assist in reconciliation of multiple monthly credit card statements and updating schedules
Reconcile monthly intercompany balances (multi-currency)
Assist in year-end audit/review engagements
Assist in continuous improvement activities, from idea generation to implementation
Maintain filing system within accounting function
Concur (expense management platform) accruals
Fleet management administration
Perform ad hoc tasks, reports, and other activities as required by management
Requirements
WHAT YOU HAVE & WHO YOU ARE:
You have a minimum of 3 years of hands-on accounting experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Post-secondary education in Accounting (College Diploma of Accounting Degree would be an asset)
You have sound knowledge of full-cycle accounting & accounting principles
A complex, multi-entity & multi-currency environment doesn't scare you away, in-fact, you thrive in this environment
You are familiar with intercompany transactions
You have experience in a manufacturing environment and PO systems
You have experience using and knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP),
If you have used Syspro in another environment, this would be a definite asset.
You have demonstrated your ability to independently plan your work and meet deadlines assigned
Your attention to detail is next level - having a high degree of accuracy in your work matters to you
You aren't afraid to show initiative and you take ownership of your work and responsibilities
You are an experienced user of Microsoft Office Suite of products.
You are a self-driven person who is organized and works well independently, but you can also jump in as part of a team
You are an effective communicator who can speak fluently using the English language
If you have experience with freight payables, this would be considered an asset
You have general knowledge of accounting principles
You are legally able to work in Canada.
