The Environmental Science Department is looking for one Teaching Assistant (TA) for the Environmental Monitoring (ENVS 410L) course taught by Professor Calla Schmidt.

Full Job Description:

The Environmental Science Department is looking for one Teaching Assistant (TA) for the Environmental Monitoring (ENVS 410L) course taught by Professor Calla Schmidt.

ENVS 410L is a field course that meets on Tuesdays from 1 to 6 PM. During most class meetings we will take a trip to Rodeo Lagoon to collect water quality samples from 1-3 PM. We will then return to the lab to analyze our samples and clean field gear.

Responsibilities:

Learn the field and lab procedures used in the class

Supervise students in the field and lab

Drive a university vehicle

Review student assignments (The instructor will provide rubrics and guidance for grading)

Helping students with problem sets, assignments, and/or questions

Prompt return of graded assignments (no more than one-week turnaround)

Summarizing student performance for instructor (common mistakes, etc.)

Holding office hours and/or being available at other times to help students

Schedule

It is anticipated that the TA will work an average of 10 hours per week for the Fall 2024 semester.

Compensation

Graduate Students: $19.67/hr
