Seeking Full time Elementary School Sign Language Interpreter (SLI)

Job Description

Minimum 1+ years intrepreter experience required.

We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Sign Language Interpreter to join our team at an elementary school near Byron,Georgia for the uping academic year. As a Sign Language Interpreter, you will play a crucial role in facilitating effective munication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their peers, teachers, and other school staff.

Responsibilities:

Provide interpretation and translation services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing in classroom settings, extracurricular activities, and school events.

Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment by ensuring equal access to educational opportunities for all students.

Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and acmodations for students.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions with students and school personnel.

Stay updated on best practices in sign language interpretation and deaf education.

Qualifications:

Minimum of a 3.5 score on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA).

Certification as a sign language interpreter or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.

Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.

Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and English.

Excellent munication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to adapt to diverse learning styles and individual student needs.
