ELV Project Manager

Purpose of the Job

1) Building automation engineer must have strong communication and customer service skills to be able to interpret customer desires and preferences, and serve as intermediaries between customers and build engineers. They also need the technical skills to troubleshoot design or installation problems. Building automation engineers must have the ability to work with CAD software to design system schematics and must be comfortable with HVAC systems.

2) Responsible for designing, implementing, and sustaining process improvements within Data Center & Support Center Operations. He will be focused on driving a continuous improvement culture that eliminates re-work, provides cost savings, and drives increased system reliability.

3) Understanding and working with drawings.

4) Perform engineering duties in planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance of building structures, and facilities.

5) Teamwork, Leadership, Organizing & Planning, continuously seeking efficient ways to perform tasks and Work Involvement.

Deliverables (key responsibilities)

1. Undertaking feasibility studies and developing concepts through to detailed design, specification and tender to the required standards. Development of operational controls strategies incorporating digital interface units and HVAC tools of trade.

2. Designing and implementation of various systems viz Building Automation, CCTV, Access control, Early smoke Detection, Gas Suppression, Fire Alarm etc. incorporating wide range of control, sensing and actuating deices. Prepare automation hardware, network, and software designs.

3. Analyze the performance of mechanical, electrical, and control systems and recommend changes to improve functionality and/or energy efficiency through multi-disciplinary Energy Conservation Measures

4. Author sequences of operation for improved energy efficiency of HVAC equipment and other mechanical, electric, and pneumatic systems

5. Inspects, monitors, evaluates, and adjusts mechanical systems performance for proper and efficient operation including pumps, fans, valves, dampers, terminal units, heat transfer equipment, fluid flow conditions, and air and water system balance.

6. Provides technical guidance and support including set-up, check-out, operation, and troubleshooting complex building automation and control systems; verifies functional performance of systems provided.

7. Pre bid designs, BOQ/ specs/ costing for new projects/proposals including method statement etc.

8. Finalization of General Arrangement & Technical details of equipment and other structures in coordination with Piping, Mechanical, Electrical & Instrumentation requirements.

9. Technical Evaluation of Vendor / Suppliers Proposals by reviewing of technical deliverables, Data Schedules and preparing base design document.

10. Coordination with PMC, Site Engineers, field personnel and project management team, delivering projects efficiently by proposing effective solutions to problems encountered. Project management responsibilities including accountability for design budgets and deadlines

11. Provides technical instruction and training to other technicians and personnel on basic theory, proper system operations, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting techniques, typical system failures, and corrections.

Demonstrate (Key competencies)

Should possess Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical, industrial automation, electrical, or related field of study or equivalent work experience

Thorough knowledge of heat transfer and fluid flow and the application of mechanical devices used for delivery of ventilation, steam, chilled water, hot water, and humidification.

Knowledge of air and water balance procedures. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, flow charts, schematic, and ladder diagrams, and control sequences, which may also involve various software languages and formats.

Ability to analyze complex control sequences and resulting operations, and to develop innovations that solve difficult technical problems.

Skill in use of personal computers, instrumentation and calibration techniques.

Full familiarity of relevant codes & standards, as well as international codes.

Flair for Design Co-ordination with client, internal departments, consultants, vendors to achieve goals using proven communication & interpersonal skills.

Educational Level

Must have: Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Automation Engineering

Working Experience

At least 3 years in Design Engineering.
