Job SummaryThe Coder I Health Information Management is responsible for coding all ED, OP and clinical patient types as directed.

Pay Range

Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.

Experience

* Required: Minimum one (1) year of coding experience in a Health Information Management Department.

Education

* Required: High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Training

* Required: None Required

Specialized Skills

* Required: Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; interpersonal relationship and collaboration skills. Excellent analytical and organization skills; excellent critical thinking, judgment, and problem-solving skills. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Hands-on troubleshooting abilities of complex problems.

* Preferred: Knowledge of 3M encoder, SoftMed Abstracting System, and Cerner HER.

Licensure

* Required: Certified Coding Associate -(CCA) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT).

* Preferred: Registered Health Information Admin (RHIA).
