We are in search of a highly motivated and experienced Controller to join our dynamic finance team. This role is pivotal in driving the financial health and success of our organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. This role also includes direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, deal analysis, and negotiations.

Responsibilities:

Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.

Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.

Coordinate all audit activity.

Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the organization’s financial status.

Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.

Leverage strengths of the finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.

Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

Coordinate with external CPA firms for the annual tax returns or prepare accurate tax return information for a tax accountant to complete.

Oversee the company's transaction processing systems and implement operational best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration. A Master's degree in the same fields will be an added advantage.

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position.

Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems.

Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.

Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to explain complex financial data to non-financial colleagues.

Experience in the construction industry, specifically with construction accounting, is strongly preferred.

Proficient in tax preparation and understanding of relevant laws.

Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
