To be responsible for the estimating work on a Ship Repair Project to assist and support the Ship Repair Invoicer. To define, measure and record all emerging work and changing work scopes on each vessel in the form of Variation Orders. To assist with the development of all opportunities on each project to maximise revenue and reduce project costs.
Duties
This position requires a hands-on approach.
Ensure in conjunction with overall Job costing (Quoting) that all Variations Orders (VO) are raised, costed and valued and that the necessary variation (in the prescribed project) is submitted in a timely manner for all changes. Once agreed ensure that the budgets, forecasts, etc are updated to reflect any changes and that the VO register is updated accordingly.
Actively seeking additional work scope on live projects. To be able to spend considerable time between office and site to value and captured additional work fronts outside the main scope of works approximately 70/30 time split.
Measure work done on site and produce accurate reports.
Carry out Onboard Surveys to allows estimation of scopes
Possible duties to attend vessel / projects to assist and support the onboard team as deemed necessary
Progress and produce accurate reports
Monitor the booking of hours and ensure that these are correctly captured in support of the invoice.Qualifications
Experienced Quantity Surveyor from the construction industry/heavy engineering/ industry/oil and gas industry or similar
Minimum Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Strong analytical skills
