Summary

The Parent Education Coordinator / Family Support Specialist (Kinship Navigator) F/T split

position): plays a vital role in fostering a supportive and enriching environment for families

within our community. This position involves implementing and coordinating evidence-

based/evidence-informed parent education curriculums and workshops specifically tailored to

empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective parenting.

As well, this position provides multi-generation support services to children with a primary focus

to strengthen protective factors and build adult capacities to impact child wellbeing and

development. In the role of a Family Support Specialist (Kinship Navigator), this position will

provide individuals, families, and relative caregivers with information and referrals regarding

available resources and services specific to their needs, and assists them in obtaining those

resources.

Duties

Essential Job Functions - Parent Education Coordinator:

Implement, coordinate, and co-facilitate a comprehensive range of evidence-based and evidence-informed parent education programs, workshops, and support groups that address the diverse needs of families in our community.

Coordinate the scheduling and execution of parent education events, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure a broad reach and diverse topics are covered.

Manage educational resources, materials, and tools to support the delivery of effective parent education programs. This includes staying current on relevant research and best practices in parenting and family support.

Build strong relationships with local schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to enhance the visibility and accessibility of our parent education programs.

Provide one-on-one guidance and support to parents seeking personalized assistance, connecting them with relevant resources and services as needed.

Work actively to identify and reduce barriers to parent engagement in educational programs. Collaborate with the community to address socio-economic, cultural, or logistical challenges that may hinder participation.

Maintain accurate records of program attendance, participant feedback, and outcomes. Generate regular reports to assess the impact of parent education initiatives and identify areas for improvement.

Stay informed about emerging trends and research in parenting, family dynamics, and child development. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance personal and programmatic effectiveness.

Other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions - Family Support Specialist (Kinship Navigator):

Provide individual visits to assigned families to provide personal instruction, develop support plans, provide resources/referral service, demonstrate appropriate educational activities; deliver research-based curriculum and curriculum materials to caregivers regarding child development and related issues.

Perform coaching with families to support their self-directed goals and objectives.

Establish and maintain records on assigned families.

Provide regularly requested data as required for reporting in multiple database platforms.

Outreach to community to connect with Kinship caregivers and identify needs.

Assists in developing customized Family Support Plans.

Assists individuals, families, and relative caregivers with accessing benefits and services including but not limited to DHHS benefits, navigating school systems, transportation assistance, translation services, connection to community, connection to mental / physical health services, etc.

Provides group facilitation and participates in community events.

Support the organizational requirements for accreditation and licensing requirements as it relates to policies, procedures, and trainings.

Stay abreast of current resources and information that may benefit participants.

Requirements

Experience in working with individual and families in the community.

Valid NH driver's license with proper registration and insurance.

Essential Skills and Expertise

Ability to provide strength-based family support.

Knowledge of community services available to support families.

Ability to provide supports utilizing the framework of Strengthening Families (promoting protective factors in the lives of families).

Knowledge of the Standards for Family Strengthening and Support.

Ability to keep files and timelines organized

Ability to enter data into a web-based database with accuracy in a timely manner.

Support the philosophy and mission of Archways.

Working knowledge of a variety of addiction recovery modalities and ability to articulate the delivery of multiple pathways of recovery.

Ability to work with diverse populations, demonstrating cultural and community awareness.

Excellent communication and time management skills

Good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.

Ability to maintain boundaries and confidentiality of sensitive information.

Approved criminal background check and DMV record check prior to official hire.

Comfortable in visiting families in their homes and delivering support in a nonjudgmental manner.
