The thermal electrical component simulation Engineer is responsible for providing guidance to design teams: he/she will be an integral part of the development team.

He/She is responsible for utilizing commercial and /or internal tools to analyze Battery, Cooling circuit, EDM and any electrified components/systems to ensure functional objectives are met.

He should be able to size and design the internal cooling systems taking care of ensuring that the operating temperatures don’t exceed the target/limits due to the material, the environment and performance level.

He will create 0D/1D models starting from CAD model and functional characteristics relative to requirements.

In particular he/she will handle:

High-Medium-Low voltage battery electric thermal model development.

High-Medium-Low voltage cable/connector/busbar thermal analysis.

EDM thermal model development.

Coolant/Oil pump sizing.

Heat exchanger sizing.

Lube & cooling circuits for any heater core of an electrified propulsion.

Conversion of detailed models to FRM/RT ones.

Models’ connection/coupling for Integrated System Simulation.

Battery cell, module and pack thermal management simulation.

Cooling Control logic simulation.

Develop innovative solution for thermal architecture and thermal management.

By using these models, he/she must analyze the simulations’ results and providing related conclusions in oral presentations and written reports to Chief Engineers, COEs, Component Engineers and others, including Powertrain management, if it is required.

He should have enough experience and attitude to support other team members in not standard modelling and to implement and publish Standard Operating Procedure documentation.Qualifications

Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering with a focus on computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer and combustion.

Knowledgeable about automotive engine, transmission, or drivetrain requirements and function.

Experience in powertrain virtual analysis using commercial codes such as Gamma Technology GT-Suite.
