About the opportunity:

A dynamic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor has emerged within our client's Structural Steel Fabrication business in West Auckland! This role will play a pivotal role in conducting quantity surveying and estimating, both pre and post-contract, across the company's diverse projects.

Role description:

Your precision in measuring quantities, skill in managing costs, and ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams will be key in achieving project success. If you have a background in Steel Quantity Surveying and a passion for excellence, we invite you to contribute your expertise to our clients company!

Responsibilities will include:

Ensuring all operations and project planning adhere to health and safety requirements.

Collaborating effectively with internal teams, including Project Managers and Drafting Staff, to analyse project design and specification information.

Accurately measuring quantities, assessing labor and material costs, and producing comprehensive schedules to project specifications.

Managing costs professionally and ensuring projects stay within budget.

Handling sub-contractor tender pricing, procurement, and negotiation, aiming for zero overruns.

Maintaining an accurate and up-to-date project information system

This role will suit someone with all or some following background/experience/qualities:

Qualification in Quantity Surveying.

A minimum of three years of industry-relevant work experience in pricing, contract administration, planning, pricing, or estimating within the Steel industry is highly desirable.

Experience in preparing cost plans, estimates, contract administration, and financial reports.

Working knowledge of contract law and conditions of contract.

Proven negotiation and problem-solving skills, even under pressure.

Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

Strong computer literacy, especially in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Pricing Software.

Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
