Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Vaughan, Ontario (on-site)

Position Type: Full-Time

Position Overview: Our client is actively seeking a seasoned mechanical engineer to join their dynamic team in a cross-functional capacity. This pivotal role will involve leveraging extensive experience to drive innovation, enhance product quality, and contribute significantly to the company's growth. Collaborating closely with the engineering team, the successful candidate will play a key role in optimizing existing products, refining processes, and spearheading the development of new, innovative products and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and Mechanical Engineering:

Lead design, and execution of multiple product development projects (mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic tools, along with related accessories) concurrently

Generate 3D renderings, components, assemblies, and animations to aid in visualization and communication of design concepts for production

Create, update, and maintain part process drawings, BOMs, and inspection reports

Conduct prototyping, testing, and documentation of findings to ensure product performance and reliability

Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior engineers, mentoring them in design best practices, problem-solving techniques, and professional development

Production Engineering:

Manage engineering change notices (ECNs) and document change requests (DCRs) to facilitate continuous improvement and quality control processes

Maintain part process drawings, BOMs, and inspection reports using ERP systems

Develop and maintain quality systems work instructions and owners' manuals, ensuring compliance with industry standards

Review and address nonconformances, provide technical expertise and assistance in root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to address quality issues and enhance product reliability

Provide support to purchasing and production departments to resolve technical issues and optimize processes

Quality Control Support:

Support engineering manager with overseeing and leveraging junior mechanical engineers and co-op engineering students

Conduct periodic audits and assessments of manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement and optimize quality control measures

Assist in the development and maintenance of quality assurance documentation, including work instructions, inspection protocols, and quality reports

Participate in cross-functional teams to address quality challenges, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and foster a culture of quality excellence throughout the organization

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent;

Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in mechanical engineering roles

Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation

Proficiency in CAD software (2D/3D) for product design and analysis

Advanced knowledge of GD&T principles and proficiency in blueprint reading

Demonstrated understanding of CNC machining processes, and measuring / calibration tools

Interest or experience in electrical engineering concepts and applications is an asset

Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and / or PLC programming, or other electrical engineering disciplines would be advantageous

Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
