Our talented and motivated Health and Safety team seeks an additional team member as the Health and Safety Supervisor. This team, in partnership with all of the Leadership is committed to the transformation of our business. As the Health and Safety Supervisor, you will ensure the well-being and protection of our employees, and lead the charge in all efforts to build upon and maintain a safe work culture throughout the organization. Your responsibilities involve training and mentorship to Health and Safety Training Coordinators, conducting thorough inspections and verifying follow-up on findings, organizing, and maintaining all H&S-related documentation and working to improve organizational health and safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaboration and Partnerships:

Collaborate with management to establish and communicate safety goals and objectives.

Actively focus and participate in all meetings and follow up with all inquiries promptly.

Work in collaboration with all stakeholders for health and safety initiatives.

2. Metrics and Evaluation:

Manage the Accident and Incident Report Database and follow up with all corrective actions.

Prepare and send all monthly and quarterly reports to management.

Provide regular updates to the H&S Manager on the status of corrective actions and inspection findings.

3. Administration:

Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.

Develop and update safety policies and procedures.

Coordinate safety-related meetings including agenda preparation and minutes taking.

Verify and account for inventory and report to the H&S Manager when supplies must be ordered.

Participate in inspections and assist in addressing any findings or deficiencies.

Manage all WSIB claims from start to finish.

4. Training and Mentorship:

Provide frequent training, coaching, and mentorship to all Health and Safety Training Coordinators and meet with each of them on at least a bi-weekly basis.

Develop and facilitate health and safety training for all staff.

Regularly update training material when there are legislated changes and/or changes to internal policies and procedures.

Schedule all employee trainings and ensure that they are completed before expiration.

5. Employee Engagement:

Promote awareness and participation in health and safety programs through effective communication and activities.

Prepare the Safe Supervisor Talk speaking points every 6 weeks.

Perform a workplace inspection each week at a different plant and engage stakeholders.

Encourage open communication channels for employees to report safety concerns or suggestions for improvement.

Communicate regularly with employees about safety-related updates, reminders, and successes.

Qualifications:

Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Kinesiology, a related field, or a combination of education and work experience.

Proven experience in developing and managing successful health and safety programs.

2 years of experience managing WSIB claims is considered an asset.

1-2 years of experience leading a team and providing training, coaching, or mentorship is considered an asset.

Excellent communication, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience in food manufacturing is considered an asset.
