Summary

This position is for a full-time robotics trainer for KUKA Robotics located in Canada. As a trained KUKA expert, and integral member of our Customer Service department you will also be required to field service repairs during customer emergencies and/or when the KUKA college is not booked with students.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high quality Robotic/Automation Training Seminars for KUKA employees and customers on the programming, servicing and safety of KUKA Robotics machinery and equipment. You will be responsible for preparing and delivering lectures, leading, and moderating classroom discussions, administering and grading examinations. You will exercise independent judgment and discretion in the delivery of training and the improvement of existing training courses.

You will participate in the development of new training programs to generate customer satisfaction and increase organizational profitability. Future mentorship of associate training instructors in the preparation and delivery of training courses will also be expected. Please Note: You will also participate in the field service and weekend rotation when there is no scheduled training.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Delivers standardized and specialized training seminars with training curriculum created by headquarters including the communication of appropriate safety precautions for robot operation.

Modify and adapt existing training curriculum by researching customer’s applications and creates new training programs as warranted.

Identifies curriculum errors, areas of improvement and proposes document changes.

Tests trainees and internal personnel to measure progress, evaluate training effectiveness, and provide on-going training recommendations.

Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions to keep abreast of the industry and for benchmarking purposes.

Works with Technical Support Specialists and Engineers to fully understand the technical and safe operation of KUKA Robot products for purposes of course design.

Works with the Customer Service Manager and/or related supervisor(s) to identify individual training needs to maintain and continuously improve skills and knowledge of KUKA Robotics products and applications.

Provides multi-level lecture and laboratory training to customers and KUKA personnel.

Provides recommendations on training work procedures.

Occasional intercontinental and international travel of varying lengths are required.

Assists other departments and participates in department meetings when required.

Maintains training records in conjunction with ISO requirements.

Maintains, prepares, updates, configures, and repairs robot lab equipment.

Prepares robots and materials for shipment for on-site training sessions.

Participate in field service for troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of industrial robots and related equipment as needed.

Provide field support for engineering projects involving application specific robot programming as needed.

Performs in-house, on-site and/or telephone troubleshooting, repairs (electrical, mechanical, programming) and support of KUKA equipment on an as-needed basis; and completes Field Service reports - prior to leaving the customer’s site.

Understands and follows safety regulations and identifies safety concerns.

Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Must be punctual, reliable, and independently driven.

Experienced robotics technician, especially regarding programming and safety integration.

Computer, Robot (KRL or equivalent, VisualBasic, C+, C’) and PLC (Siemens and Rockwell) programming skills/experience. Strong computer skills and experience with PC based systems and information technologies (IT).

Knowledge of electrical theory, low voltage circuits, design and/or testing, set up and troubleshooting of robot and automation controls, AC/DC circuits and servo controls.

Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, electronic, etc. prints and other related technical documentation.

Must be skilled in how to use basic tools and mechanical teardown of mechanical equipment.

Must possess computer skills in MSOffice tools such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Adobe.

Instruction delivery experience in training seminars or formal training courses in a college or professional training environment preferred.

Must possess strong communication and customer relation skills.

Instruction/teaching, public speaking skills and experience in training seminars or formal training courses in a college or professional training environment preferred.

Must understand and be able to communicate necessary safety precautions for the safe operation of robots.

Education and/or Experience

Four-year college or university degree with minimum of three (3) years related robotic automation experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Direct experience with KUKA products is not a mandatory requirement, as we offer comprehensive training programs within the KUKA organization. However, preference will be given to candidates with pre-existing experience with robotic systems.
