Azure Cost Optimization Architect (Excel/Power BI, Azure, Cost

We are seeking an experienced Azure cost optimization architect to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background and experience in executing Azure cost optimization for a large enterprise with a focus on designing and implementing automated solutions to optimize Azure spending

Scope:

Core responsibilities to include analyze Azure usage and spending data to identify trends and opportunities for cost optimization using the Azure cost optimization tools. Design automated solutions for Azure cost optimization, including auto-shutdown policies, automated resource management etc

This is a new team that is getting set up with a focus on cost optimization. In this role one needs to collaborate with cloud architects, engineers, and financial analysts to identify areas for cost optimization, design and develop solutions to achieve cost savings

Our current technical environment:

• Cloud Architecture: MS Azure (ARM templates, AKS, HD insight, Application gateway, Virtue Networks, Event Hub, Azure AD)

What you’ll do:

Monitor and analyze Azure usage and spending data to identify trends and opportunities for cost optimization using the Azure cost optimization tools

Implement and maintain Azure governance policies to enforce cost controls and optimize resource usage

Participate in ongoing cloud optimization initiatives to continuously improve our Azure cost optimization strategies

Collaborate with cloud architects, engineers, and financial analysts to identify areas for cost optimization and develop solutions to achieve cost savings

Partner with engineering teams to ensure cost improvements are working

Identify and raise technical, business, and operational risks and opportunities

Create awareness and impact change in cloud infrastructure costs

Demonstrate critical thinking and growth mindset, enthusiastic about learning new technologies quickly and applying the gained knowledge to address business problems

Develop dashboards and reports to provide insights and recommendations to senior management

What we are looking for:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

7+ years of experience in Azure architecture and automation, with a focus on cost optimization

Azure certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer, or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate

Understanding of cloud infrastructure, cost reporting, and cost optimization at scale in Azure

Experience with Azure automation tools such as Azure Advisor, Azure Resource Graph, Azure VM recommendation, Azure Storage explorer etc

Advanced proficiency in Excel/Power BI

Prior experience in designing and implementing infrastructure cost optimization program for large enterprises is an added advantage

Ability to review commercially available tools for Azure Cost Optimization and provide recommendation

Be detail oriented and excited about turning data into insights.

Balance and prioritize multiple projects and remain calm under pressure.

Work independently and as part of a team on multiple concurrent projects.

Strong analytical, problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, organize, and analyze large sets of data and identify cost saving opportunity

Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner

Able to work flexible hours as project demands
