Summary:
Performs vascular ultrasound exams including: upper/lower extremity venous and arterial studies, vein mappings, aorta/iliac arteries, carotid artery, renal artery, venous competency exams, and ankle brachial index as ordered by the physician. Also, be familiar with scanning bypass grafts and stents.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Includes the following but other duties may be assigned:
Prioritize and evaluate patient orders
Prepares patient and explains procedures to patient; answers questions carefully and completely
Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedure in accordance with accepted protocols as directed by physician
Follow prescribed safety standards in operating equipment
Maintain ultrasound and vascular lab equipment in appropriate operating condition
Maintain examination rooms and work areas. Order and stock all ultrasound and vascular lab supplies
Maintain accurate department records, reports and files as directed
Performs other duties as assigned by manager
Required:
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
RDMS
Experience in cardiovascular pathology
BLS/CPR certification
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Completion of accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology program.
