Job Description:

Come join the staff at OU HSC and become a part of Oklahoma's premier research university which leads the state in education and career opportunities. OU HSC is one of only four comprehensive academic health centers in the nation with seven professional colleges. We are currently building world-class institutes for the treatment of diabetes and cancer.

Duties:

Performs a variety of payroll tasks related to the University Payroll processes.

Responsible for payroll processing, cost transfers, voucher approvals, and payment review/approval.

Responsible for coordinating/running the payroll processing in conjunction with the Senior Accountant.

This includes researching and resolving payroll errors.

Maintains HSC payroll processing records.

Works with payroll coordinators and answers payroll and timekeeping questions.

Obtains Controller signature for payroll submission to OMES.

Manage/prepare retirement statements for withholding accounts to relative retirement accounts.

Validates payment information entered for entry accuracy.

Communicates with clerical staff for necessary corrections.

Approves vouchers for payment.

Cost Transfers.

Prepares payroll journals for each PFT cycle to post liabilities on 789 funds.

Resolves any errors on payments or journal processes for differences between OUHSC and OMES side.

Serves as back up for other payroll processing.

Performs other duties as assigned/required to ensure the overall success of the department.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor's of Science or Arts Degree and a minimum of 18 hours of Accounting coursework (must attach a transcript)

Skills:

ERP Financial Software

Microsoft Office Software

Knowledge of Accounting principles, practices, methods, and terminology

Computer skills in MS Office, accounting software and databases

Ability to choose the right mathematical method or formula to solve a problem

Ability to collect and organize accounting data, interpret the significance, and prepare accurate financial reports

Ability to solve accounting and related financial problems

Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

Ability to handle stressful situations

Excellent organizational, problem-solving, project management and communication skills

Preferences:

Microsoft Word and Excel experience

PeopleSoft experience

18 hours of Accounting at a college level

High level of verbal and written skills

Working Conditions:

Physical: Sitting for prolonged periods, manual dexterity, able to communicate effectively

Environmental: Standard office environment
