To ensure all converting personnel are trained in safety, food safety, and quality requirements for all required job tasks and to verify all activities within converting department as compliant.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead department with the Compassion, Integrity, Engagement and Accountability to create an opportunity to thrive together. Train, implement, document and constantly verify all safety, food safety and quality requirements. Implement root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions for any non-conforming raw materials, work in process, and finished goods products. Work with Scheduler to ensure the highest throughput efficiency through converting departments and proper manning schedule to meet production requirements. Work with departmental management staff to ensure all food safety and quality issues are brought to appropriate department manager’s attention, reviewed, and handled through applicable food safety and quality program requirements. Work with Customer Service as needed to ensure proper lines of communication involving all products within converting departments. Work with Transportation and Storage Manager involving raw, work in process, and finished goods product including shipment. Work with Maintenance Manager involving any maintenance needs within converting departments. Work with Compliance for all regulatory and legislative requirements. Complete reviews for all employees within converting department, reviewing with Production Manager. Actively participate in CAPA, (Corrective and Preventative Action) Program. Continuous improvement of all current converting processes. Manage and submit all applicable safety, food safety and quality records to Production Manager. Complete any other tasks as assigned by Production Manager. Specific Job Skills: Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, theories, and methods of manufacturing, production, and quality control as related to Packaging products, especially laminations. Knowledge of departmental operating policies and procedures, legal requirements, regulations, and laws as applicable to areas of assignment. Skill in using computer hardware and software applications, including word processing, PowerPoint, spreadsheets, databases, and computer-aided design. Skill administering training to achieve organizational goals in a team based environment. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals and groups. Ability to perform mathematical calculations at level needed for converting operations. Ability to prioritize tasks in an environment of changing time constraints and deadlines. Ability to exercise good judgment and make accurate and timely decisions. Knowledge of procedural auditing to ensure current SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) are followed. Experience: A minimum of five years is required within flexible packaging converting departments including personnel and production scheduling of laminations and slitting/rewinding. SQF Requirements: Follow all applicable food safety and quality requirements. Train personnel on all applicable policies and procedures as outlined within the food safety and quality manual. Verify as required for all applicable policies and procedures as outlined within the food safety and quality manual. Cover for co-workers in times of absence as approved by Production Manager.
