The Senior Project Manager will support the growing energy practice. This is a very strategic role that will be part of the company’s energy practice, by establishing and growing a client base and acquiring staff to support growth initiatives.

The Senior Project Manager will provide guidance for renewable and other energy infrastructure development, and support the growth and diversity of services as well as the expansion of the company’s footprint.

The Senior Project Manager will have primary responsibility for project management with execution and management of permitting/siting, evaluating environmental impact and regulatory compliance associated with renewable and other energy infrastructure projects.


The ideal candidate will have deep understanding of and experience with federal, state, and local land use regulations, including NEPA and state renewable energy and environmental permitting processes

Experience working with OPSB - Ohio Power Siting Board

Daily interaction with project teams, clients, subcontractors and regulatory agency staff is expected

This Senior Project Manager will lead regulatory and permitting activities for a variety of energy infrastructure development projects

This Senior Project Manager will lead the preparation of county, state and federal land use permit applications, lead the development of environmental studies and resource analysis, and consult with county, state, and federal governmental bodies and agencies

This candidate will lead a team consisting of energy facility siting, routing, permitting, field surveys, GIS, public outreach as well as budget and project schedule tracking

Permitting and resource studies associated with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Public Service Commissions (PSC) and/or Public Utility Commissions (PUC)

A key role will be leading a team at compiling resource impact and mitigation plans in support of federal, state, and local permitting and agency requirements (U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, Bureau of Land Management, State Historic Preservation Office)

A key function of this role also involves direct interaction with agencies, clients, and other Program Managers, Project Managers and technical disciplines

The candidate will lead proposal development, development of scopes of work and costing efforts related to energy infrastructure siting and permitting


B.S. or M.S. in a related field (i.e., Environmental Planning, Environmental studies, or a closely related discipline)

Minimum 10+ years of professional experience, including direct management of renewable energy sector environmental permitting projects

10+ years’ experience with environmental and regulatory processes - federal, state, and local regulators such as PUC, PSC, FERC, BLM, USFS, USFWS, and USACE as well as experience with NEPA

Working knowledge of federal and state regulations and permitting processes, ability to assess project permitting feasibility and requirements, experience interacting with regulatory agencies

Experience with site permitting, route permitting, and conditional use permitting for renewable energy projects

Relevant and reputable experience with renewable energy sector

Ability to travel approximately 15-25% for business reasons (project and business development)

Must be able to manage time well, lead and mentor junior staff, and work on tasks as part of a larger project team

Role will involve leading the preparation of local, state, and federal permit applications; resource analysis; corridor identification; route refinement; agency consultation; and public outreach

Working knowledge in geographic information system; environmental impact analysis related to renewable energy and land management projects; agency consultation for regulatory compliance and permitting; biological resources mitigation design and monitoring planning; and construction monitoring is desirable

Must be able to translate regulatory language into "plain English" terms to clearly communicate requirements to non-regulatory personnel

Demonstrated leadership capabilities, technical inquisitiveness, a positive attitude, and an ability to work well in teams are essential

Business development and client service management skills with a proven track record of developing project opportunities and maintaining successful client relationships; strong existing client relationships and professional contacts are a must
