This is a strategic role supporting this highly recognized practice. Candidate will coordinate with other team members in BD and Marketing and will supervise a team. Responsibilities for this position include: developing/executing business development, marketing, and communications programs.
Consult with leadership to develop and coordinate strategic business development plans
for assigned groups and individuals, including fiscal year plans, individual goal statements, and specific
business development initiatives; manage implementation of these plans; measure outcomes.
Lead annual practice group budget development and manage approved budget monthly.
Primary point of contact for practice group leadership.
Coordinate preparation for meetings with Practice leadership, report business development activities and progress against plans, analyze monthly data output from Accounting on current workloads, new matters, lawyer activity.
Oversee practice group response process for RFP/pitch opportunities, including development of customized, client specific pitch materials. Track opportunity origination and win/loss record.
Conduct practice group meetings.
Monitor relevant trade press and case filings to report on prospective client development leads to
partners on a daily basis.
Provide strategic business development advice to leadership/partners focused on generation of
new business leads, client expansion, and identification of cross-selling opportunities.
Plan business development events.
Plan marketing campaigns, including digital content and messaging supporting business development objectives such as market penetration, industry expansion, cross-selling.
Lead integration of lateral lawyers within assigned practice groups.
Counsel lawyers regarding personal business development goals, provide guidance for plan implementation.
Manage practice submissions to Chambers, Legal 500, and other rankings, surveys, and award
Coordinate closely with PR team to identify and leverage media opportunities
Research into potential profile raising activities including sponsorships and speaking opportunities to make recommendations as to potential Firm engagement in line with budget.
Coordinate specialist tracking of practice experience and successes for use in practice materials
Manage updating of website content, newsletters, brochures and other external communications.
Shared responsibility for the training and development of Business Development Specialists,
including: Pitch and proposal drafting; event planning and management; drafting/distribution of client Alerts; drafting/updating content management; and practice group content.
Training practice groups and individual lawyers regarding best practices.
Bachelor’s degree, MBA or JD a plus, 3+ years of experience in law firm marketing and business development, excellent interpersonal and written communications skills, proven leadership skills, ability to effectively juggle multiple projects, experience supervising a direct report ideal, experience with technology/software for marketing including website, databases and knowledge management
Tools, proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, and Excel required. InterAction, Adobe, and Publisher skills a plus.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
