Specification

Core Functions:

Actively participate in the planning and implementation of academy activities

Establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students

Use effective presentation and communication skills (in English) when addressing students and educators including being articulate and using appropriate vocabulary and example of clear and legible visuals.

Determine and compile a clinical block programme and block content for each intake which will ensure coverage of the prescribed curriculum and learning activities of the SANC regulation governing the respective course/programme.

Establish and maintain a PowerPoint presentation bank with core content of all aspects of the curriculum of the course i.e body systems and nursing management per system.

Maintain and update the clinical block programme in accordance with theoretical activities

Ensure effective planning of lectures and lesson plans according to the clinical block programme

Ensure sound and effective communication channels with academy staff, clinical staff as well as the clinical facilities

Design and implementation of ICU curriculum.

Accept responsibility for a group of student in block and ensure that their theoretical are done according to the accredited curriculum, regulations and directives of SANC and the academy

Orientate all the students at the academy in all the aspects of the theoretical requirements,

Facilitate learning across the diverse needs and requirements of all categories of students in a diverse cultural and practical healthcare context.

Ensure professional presentation of theoretical content in different ways: formal lectures, group discussions, assignments, videos, self-study, case study and the like.

Identify students with theoretical content problems timeously and implement remedial programs to assist the student.

Maintain records to serve as evidence of teaching and learning for each individual student as prescribed in the policies, procedures of the SANC and the academy

Monitor and compile accurate records of the students in attendance and their academic progress, and report deviations to the Principal.

Compile a student progress report for feedback to each student as well as other internal and external stakeholders (where relevant)

Monitor and maintain a theoretical attendance register for each student.

Facilitate theoretical assessment, both formative and summative.

Ensure correct preparation of classroom for SANC examinations.

Facilitate all arrangements for the assessment (i.e. date, time and venue)

Ensure test papers and marked and moderated before giving feedback, and ensure proper feedback is provided to students.

Arrange remedial assessment and support for students.

Ensure data capturing of final mark for SANC submission.

Assist with annual graduation preparations and be a part of graduation committee

Attend scheduled meetings to compare and collaborate on needs and challenges faced by the academy

Act as a Clinical Facilitator as and the needs arises.

Build mutual beneficial relationships with both internal and external stakeholders

Liaise and build a collaborative network of relationships between academic, clinical staff, learners and stakeholders including inter-departmental relationship that promote the achievement of academy goals and objectives

Develop strong network within industry that promotes overall business goals and uplift academic image and performance.

Maintain a professional, positive cooperative and mutually supportive relationship with the students and employees of the academy and clinical facilities by creating a healthy learning environment and an inclusive culture by instilling P.R.A.C.T.I.C.E principles amongst students and staff.

Assist in driving marketing activities of the academy.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Grade 12

Diploma General Nursing/Midwifery

Degree in Nursing Education

Diploma in Intensive Care Nursing (ICU)

Current registration with SANC as Assessor/Moderator

Valid driver's license

Computer proficiency.

3 years teaching experience.

Registered Nurse with at least 4 years comprehensive clinical nursing.

Private hospital experience will be an advantage
