Senior Engineer, Systems (117752)

Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Responsibility includes full lifecycle design of multiple, complex products and new technology for successful product launches in embedded automotive multimedia products. Responsible for providing detailed requirements to software; hardware and test teams for embedded automotive multimedia products. Contribute to the design and usability of a given product throughout conceptualization, development and implementation. Provide appropriate support and documentation, and help maintain design and usability integrity. Work with the customer, project, software, and testing teams to plan, manage, and provide status of development and delivery schedules. Work with all other engineering disciplines to ensure development schedules are met. Analyze product issues and defects involving software engineering, electrical engineering, systems engineering, and test engineering disciplines. Follow, recommend, and implement systems processes. Prepare product and component related specifications to support manufacture or building of prototype products and systems. Develop user scenarios, task models, and conceptual and formal user interface prototypes. Troubleshoot embedded software programs for enhancements and new products. Determine hardware compatibility. Plan, develop, and participate in experimentation and tests related to product development. Generate and analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. Provide direction to both on-shore and off-shore development teams on development of features. Work with high-end embedded RTOS’s such as Linux and Android. Keep abreast of new technologies and methods for the purpose of recommending changes that will benefit current and future customer programs. Assure best practices and design patterns are used consistently and appropriately. Prepare and analyze reports, charts, graphs, and other statistical information. Initiates, recommends, and tracks technical solutions.

REQUIREMENTS: A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field of study followed by five (5) years of progressive experience in the specialty field OR IN THE ALTERNATIVE TO ALL THE JOB REQUIREMENTS SET FORTH ABOVE, THE EMPLOYER WILL ACCEPT Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or related field of study and three (3) years of systems or industrial controls engineering.
