Sales Associate Job Description

Job Title: Sales Associate (Fulltime or Part-time)

Department: Sales

Reports To: Store Sales Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly

Summary of Accountabilities;

The fragrance Sales Associate should be a passionate individual that seeks to engage with our customers to provide

the ultimate shopping experience. The Sales Associate should be focused on the process of selling and servicing by

following the successful sales format Perfumania has developed from greeting the customer, building rapport and

understanding how to influence the conversation to maximize each sale. The Sales Associate is responsible for

providing professional services to customers by selling and demonstrating fragrances and related items, as well as

contributing to the success of the department through achieving personal and store sales goals.

Experience / Skills: Prior selling experience in a commission based retail environment preferred

Selling, Operational and Behavioral Responsibilities:

Selling:

Deliver exceptional shopping experiences through consistent performance applying the company’s selling

process, while utilizing (removed the word the) technology and collaboration of others

Service customers by demonstrating the features and benefits of different fragrances and other products by

determining customer’s needs and preferences

Cultivates a client style relationship with customers

Product knowledge; knows all aspects of each fragrance and other products, displays the ability to answer

customer questions and assist in the decision making process

Maintains high visibility and energy levels on the selling floor

Reading product information and promotional materials from the company and manufacturers is essential

to your success

Participates in sales driving events to maximize sales, when requested I removed “pre-selling we don’t do

it and it’s redundant as a “sales driving event” would cover pre-selling

Closes sales by suggesting additional items and reinforcing customer’s decisions

Strives to meet or exceed daily, weekly and monthly sales goals

Operational;

Ability to utilize POS and perform register functions and complete required reports/forms

Ability to work in a store environment and/or mall kiosks

Responsibly manage all cash transactions with integrity.

Alert Store Sales Manager of inventory discrepancies and other inaccuracies

Preparing merchandise for display. Moving or lifting boxes/products weighing up to 25lbs.

Assisting in physical inventory counts

Maintains neat and organized stock, including straightening and displaying products

Impacts loss prevention by checking products for leakage and/or damage and reduces theft by providing

outstanding customer service on the sales floor

Ensures all financial documents are filled out accurately and legibly

Participates in regular, daily cleaning of the store, inclusive of garbage removal

Follows all Store Safety and Emergency procedures, and Loss Prevention policy and procedures

Professional Behavior / Development;

Maintain a professional look, (i.e., attire is company uniform of smock or polo)

Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality

Flexibility in shift changes when required

Attending Store sales meetings, if requested

Attend product training classes and seminars, when requested

Adhere to respective State guidelines regarding meals and breaks, if applicable

Follow all policy and procedures of the company

Additional work hours in excess of normal business schedule may be necessary to perform essential duties

and responsibilities. This includes extra efforts required for infrequent or short duration. Changes in shift

may occur to ensure appropriate coverage to meet the needs of the business/Store

Travel may be required via any mode of transportation as determined by company for business

purposes such as, but not limited to, providing schedule coverage for another Store, skill development,

training or a company business event. Travel may be required to perform the essential job responsibilities

Job Requirements;

Education;

High School Diploma or GED. Some college preferred.

Language Skills;

Ability to read and write in English. Spanish is a plus. Ability to write memos, business correspondence and

procedures. Ability to effectively articulate and present information and respond to questions from management

and/or customers.

Mathematical Skills;

Ability to calculate figures utilizing adding machine, cash register.

accommodate the requirement of public transportation of any type, in role, to get to/from employment in a timely

manner, as scheduled.
