Job Description:

The Engineering Software Developer is responsible for supporting development and implementation of real-time state estimation and control system solutions, which are integrated in the automatic machine control products for the industries CTCT serves.

To accomplish this objective the Engineering Software Developer is responsible for supporting the full lifecycle of the system development, including, but not limited to, position estimation solutions design, as well as feedback controls solution design, implementation, simulation, analysis, testing and on-machine validation.

Success in this position involves working effectively with the application domain experts, and within the established process framework, and demonstrating a set of fundamental analysis, controls, signal processing, filter design and engineering skills that result in predictability in engineering, scheduling and the quality of products developed.


Demonstrated experience of MATLAB / Simulink and Model-Based control system development.

Demonstrated experience in the acquisition and processing of data to support the analysis, testing and validation of the developed control system.

Must possess effective analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment, and effectively interact with a global team.

Familiar with signal processing techniques, state estimation, and control theory, including, but not limited to, digital filters design, Kalman filters, system identification, and nonlinear control.

Experience with C++ is desired


Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, computer engineering, computer science, software engineering or relevant field required.

2-4 years industry experience required.

CTCT is recruiting for exceptional Software Developers with expertise in embedded software development utilizing Simulink and C++.

Developers will be part of a team involved with the full lifecycle development of real-time positioning embedded solutions for mobile industrial machinery.

Position's Contributions to Work Group:

CTCT (Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies) develops control systems that guide and automatically control hydraulic functions of industrial mobile machinery in the construction, mining and paving industries we serve.

Accurate and robust real-time positioning and orientation of components of these machines is required to achieve the automatic control system objectives.

These positioning solutions are achieved by applying Inertial, optical, GNSS, and other technologies, either individually or fused, using advanced estimation algorithms to meet the application performance objectives.

Typical Day:

Will work in an agile team.

Critical Technical Skills:

2-4 years industry experience with Kalman Filters and MATLAB/Simulink.

Ideal candidates would have experience with Control Systems and C++ and be able to communicate effectively in a team.
