Provide data management support, analytical support, and general research assistance to the investigators of the Economic and Health Policy Research Program (EHPR). Contribute to key elements of the strategic development for the Team’s main projects, setting team objectives with the VP or Senior Investigators over longer time frames (5%). Directly participate in the design and delivery of specific research projects, particularly in research design, analytical plan development, analysis and interpretation of analytical results. Typically, these projects will culminate in manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals or public reports published by the American Cancer Society (10%). Develop independent research agenda under the guidance of the EHPR Scientific VP and lead corresponding complex research projects from project conceptualization, through analysis, write-up and eventual presentation to the scientific community through scientific fora and eventual publication (50%). Maintain and develop the U.S. and international databases used by the EHPR program, which includes, but is not limited to, economic data related to tobacco, nutrition, physical activity and access to healthcare (5%). Review tobacco control and nutrition research studies and provide material support and input on research grant applications (5%). Contribute to the maintenance of the program’s vast literature database pertinent to risk factors to cancer and access to care (5%). Prepare and execute presentations on the program’s activities including to government officials, international governmental organizations, academic audiences, and the general public (5%). Represent the EHPR and ACS at professional meetings in the U.S. and abroad (5%). Manage relationships with key collaborators (5%). Supervise and mentor less experienced scientists on the team, focusing on research design, analysis using advanced quantitative methodologies, and research results interpretation (5%).

TRAVEL: Occasional travel.

2 years of experience in economic or health policy research. Must be proficient in STATA, SAS and R languages as well as computer-assisted personal interviewing programming. (Skills can be obtained through education or experience.)

Master’s degree in Economics, Statistics, MPH or related degree. Foreign equivalents accepted.
