Description:

M-F 8am-4pm

A sanitation worker doesn't have to be built like a professional weightlifter, but he must be physically fit. Some sanitation workers work alone, so they must climb in and out of their trucks at every stop. Others work in pairs or trios, so non-driving workers hop on and off their trucks to gather refuse. Trash can be heavy, so you must be able to lift heavy trash cans, furniture, electronics, metal and plastic containers, trash bags, and bulky packaging. Depending on the needs of a community, you must also clear debris that's blocking roadways or dispose of building supplies and equipment.

A sanitation worker's job description often requires obtaining driving certifications that allow him to operate heavy commercial equipment. Safety is a major concern, so a sanitation driver must be able to maneuver through tight neighborhood streets and crowded parking lots. Some sanitation workers work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime
